This session explores how AI can be used practically within contract and commercial management, focusing on where the construction industry is today, what is holding adoption back and where AI can genuinely add value.
It looks at the current gap between interest in AI and actual use, the most common barriers such as governance, integration, skills and data quality, and the practical use cases contract teams are already asking for. These include reviewing contracts, improving notices, summarising records, reducing manual reporting and identifying risks earlier.
The session also explores what organisations need in place to adopt AI responsibly, including strong data, governance, skills and human ownership, before introducing Built Intelligence’s four AI pillars: Assist, Analyse, Automate and Anticipate.
The core message is practical rather than theoretical: AI should help teams make better contract decisions, reduce administration and identify issues earlier, while professional judgement and accountability remain with people.
The session is focused on what AI can actually do for contract and commercial teams today, not generic AI theory.
Attendees will learn how AI can help reduce administration, improve notices and records, summarise complex information, support reporting and identify risks earlier. The session also covers the risks that need to be controlled, including data quality, governance, over-reliance and accountability, so people can understand both the opportunity and the limits.
Most importantly, it gives construction professionals a practical view of where to start, what foundations need to be in place and how AI can support better contract management without replacing professional judgement.
